TRS THRIVING INDEX
While we value & pursue academic rigor, we affirm that the holistic development of a child cannot be boiled down to their test scores. We are building our school around 5 pillars that we call the TRS Thriving Index. These pillars serve as a guide that help us recognize if we are accomplishing our goal as an educational institution of excellence that is committed to teaching children through the lens of a biblical worldview.
Our 5 pillars come from Mark 12 when Jesus is asked which of the commandments is the greatest.
HEART | EMOTIONAL HEALTH
Our emotions make up a core component of who we are as people which is why TRS desires to intentionally invest heavily into our students’ hearts. Our Heart emphasis focuses on the emotional health and development of our students.
It is our conviction that nothing contributes more to the emotional health of children than their family. We aspire to provide meaningful events and programs directly focused on benefiting our TRS parents which indirectly bless our students.
SOUL | SPIRITUAL FORMATION
As a biblical worldview institution, we know the spiritual formation of our students to be the primary motivation for why we exist as an organization. Each day, we commit time and energy to provide a distinctly Christian worldview education so that we are able to nurture and shepherd our students. We believe teaching our students from a biblical world and life view will provide meaningful purpose and hope.
This area of emphasis will assist our students by creating a framework that will help them to answer some of life’s biggest questions.
MIND | ACADEMIC RIGOR
We believe an excellent educational experience is only possible if the school leadership is pursuing high academic rigor. Our team of passionate professionals is committed to developing our students’ minds with the knowledge and wisdom that will serve them well as lifelong learners.
We desire our students to be fully capable to take advantage of every opportunity available to them in the future and be able to experience academic success alongside their peers from around the city who may enjoy benefits and privileges that come from greater financial affluence.
STRENGTH | PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
We recognize the correlation between academic success and access to well-balanced, nutritious meals. Good and healthy food fuels our students’ bodies, allowing them to grow mentally and physically strong.
In addition to the emphasis we place on good nutrition, physical education and activities are essential aspects of our Strength programming. These activities allow our students to have fun while also supporting the physical development of their cardiovascular and muscular systems.
SERVICE | COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Our school community models, in both words and deeds, the importance of actively seeking opportunities to benefit and care for others. This emphasis on empathy serves our students well as they engage with people and the world around them.
Whether it is helping grow the community garden, participating in a supply drive for another ministry, or caring for God’s creation through our campus recycling program, our students are being challenged to ‘love their neighbor as themselves’. By introducing our students to the gift of giving, we want them to understand that service to the community can ignite fellowship, unity, personal growth, and satisfaction.
